ICC’s 2nd Bihar Solar Show: The Meet for Action on May 28, 2025

Bihar is embracing a Solar-powered future, in alignment with India’s national climate goals of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and attaining net-zero carbon Emissions by 2070. With an estimated Solar potential of over 11.2 GW and moderate Solar radiation levels, Bihar is well-suited for both large-scale Solar parks and decentralised solutions, forming the bedrock of its renewable energy ambitions. While the State’s installed Solar capacity was below 200 MW in 2019, it surged to 590 MW by March 2024— a nearly threefold increase. This growth has been catalysed by a confluence of private sector interest, progressive policy measures, and strong institutional support.

Rising energy demand—set to grow from 7,000 MW in 2024 to a projected 21,000 MW by

2033—has amplified the urgency of Solar adoption in Bihar. The State’s Renewable Energy Policy of 2017 laid a strong foundation, and the revised 2025 version is expected to give a big boost to Renewable Energy generation.  National programs like PM-KUSUM have enabled the installation of over 5,000 Solar-powered agricultural pumps, significantly cutting diesel dependence and promoting sustainable development. To hear the latest Policy updates, please join us at ICC organised 2nd Bihar Solar Show on 28th May, at the Urja Bhawan in Patna .

ICC’s regular promotion of Solar Energy in Bihar has resulted in substantial

investment in renewable energy in the State. The Bihar Business Summit in December 2024 attracted around ₹80,000 crores in investment commitments. The Chamber can definitely claim credit for establishing renewable energy as a strategic growth pillar for Bihar’s economy. Bihar’s infrastructure development in Solar energy is progressing rapidly. Major projects like the Kajra Solar Power Project and the upcoming battery energy storage system signify the State’s deep commitment to a clean energy transition. Rooftop Solar has also gained traction, with over 110 MW installed across 10,000+ government buildings by April 2025, contributing to the State’s Sustainable Energy Bihar initiative. With average daily Solar radiation levels ranging from 4.88 to 5.28 kWh/m²/day—equating to an annual yield of up to 1,927.4 kWh/m², Bihar’s scientific Solar viability is undeniable. The State’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is also witnessing a Solar surge. Startups supported by institutions like IIT Patna and the Bihar Startup Hub are developing innovative appliances, AI-driven diagnostics, and indigenous inverters and electric cables. This wave of innovation is giving rise to a robust Solar manufacturing sector in Bihar. To hear about the latest developments in Solar Engineering, please meet us at ICC organised 2nd Bihar Solar Show on 28th May. There would be a Special Technical Session on the same.

Decentralized Solar systems are lighting up rural Bihar, now powering over 200,000 homes and improving livelihoods. The proposed Bihar–Nepal Renewable Corridor will also open doors to regional clean energy trade. Such Scaling up of Solar Energy needs green financial support. Green Finance strategies would also be taken up in the ICC meet on May 28. The Indian Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Bihar will jointly host the 2nd Bihar Solar Show on 28th May 2025 at Urja Bhawan, Patna. With the theme “Accelerating Solar Energy Adoption: Building a Resilient Bihar,” the event aims to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, startups, investors, and innovators to showcase achievements, unveil new policy frameworks, and announce investment opportunities. With dignitaries like Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Minister in Charge, Department of Energy, Government of Bihar, and Chief Secretary Mr. Amrit Lal Meena, IAS, in attendance, the summit promises to be a pivotal moment for Bihar’s renewable energy roadmap.

We look forward to your active participation in the 2nd Bihar Solar Show to be held on May 28, 2025 at Urja Bhawan, Patna.
